FineMolds is a Japanese manufacturer concentrating on domestic subjects, and it also makes a sister boxing of the single-seat F-2A version in the markings of the same unit, so both forms of the type can be built side by side. The Mitsubishi F-2 is a Japanese multi-role combat aircraft derived from the American F-16, developed jointly by the Japanese and American sides. Against its basis it has a markedly larger wing area with extensive use of composites and a range of other changes to the airframe and the equipment. The powerplant is a single General Electric F110 turbofan engine built under license in Japan. The F-2B version is two-seat: the second cockpit was arranged by reworking the spine behind the canopy, so the two-seat machine has a different silhouette to the upper fuselage than the single-seater. Machines from the beginning of the run stayed with the test unit, which evaluates armament and equipment.
The two-seat cockpit is the most visible part of the interior on this model — it pays to devote time to it before you close the fuselage. Dry-fit the parts, glue with thin cement for plastic and sand the seams back; then re-engrave any panel lines that have disappeared with a scriber. Apply a primer before painting. Spray the blue-gray Japanese scheme with an airbrush with sharply divided fields, for which masking tape is useful. Go over the surface with a gloss clear coat before the decals and even it out at the end with a satin clear coat. Mask the long canopy in sections, so that the paint does not creep under anywhere.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
