This kit from the Japanese maker Fujimi captures the Light Armoured Vehicle of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force in 1:72 scale. The compact four-wheeler is a rewarding subject: the build is not extensive, the model takes up a minimum of space and it looks good on its own as well as in a diorama beside other Japanese vehicles in the same scale.
The light armored vehicle was developed by Komatsu and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force took it into service at the start of the 21st century as the standard armored vehicle of its infantry units, a counterpart to the Western light armored cars. The all-wheel-drive vehicle protects its crew against small arms fire and splinters; it became more widely known through the deployment of the Japanese contingent on the reconstruction mission in Iraq.
In 1:72 scale it is the cleanness of the work that decides: sand the parting lines down with fine sandpaper and separate the small parts with a sharp knife. Vehicles of the Japan Self-Defense Forces carry a typical two-color camouflage of green and brown; spray it through loosely laid masks. Dust pigment on the wheel arches and the wheels gives the vehicle the look of one in service.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
