1:72 Marlin M1917 Early Type (2 Items)

Marlin M1917 Early Type 1:72 (GasPatch models)

A resin accessory in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer GasPatch models. It is not a model of an aircraft but castings of the American Marlin M1917 aviation machine gun in the early form, two pieces according to the name. The set replaces the plastic part from the base kit where the weapon is clearly visible, typically with the fixed armament ahead of the cockpit.

The real subject

The Marlin M1917 was an American air-cooled machine gun, modified specifically for installation in aircraft. It came about by reworking an older design so that it could be placed in the cramped space of the fuselage and synchronized with the revolutions of the propeller. It was used at the end of the First World War and in the postwar period, among other things on trainers and reconnaissance machines. The designation Early Type in the name refers to the earlier production form.

Building and painting tips

With small resin parts it is the handling and the storage that decide. Leave the castings on the casting block as long as possible, as the block serves as a natural handle during painting. Work over a shallow dish or on a light surface so that a part that flies off does not end up in the carpet, and use tweezers with flat jaws rather than pointed ones. Keep parts in progress in a closable box with compartments, not loose on the table. Before you open the set, prepare your workplace, because the most common loss of a small part happens when it is first separated from the block.
