A resin set of wheels in 1:72 scale for the Hawker Hurricane fighter in its Mk.I version. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model you already have. On aircraft models the wheels are among the most rewarding replacements: they are clearly visible, they have a pronounced shape, and in a small scale the tread pattern and the detail of the hub are often lost on plastic parts. A resin casting renders those details more readably and tends to be divided so that no parting line is left on the tread. Before buying, compare the diameter of the wheel and the method of attachment with your model.
The landing gear is one of the few parts of a model the viewer looks at close up and from below. A sharper tire pattern, a readable wheel hub and a clean transition between the disc and the tire lift the impression of the whole model markedly, even though it is a small part. Wheel sets also often differ between versions of an airplane, which is why the Mk.I designation in the name is an essential distinguishing detail.
Cut the wheel off the casting block with a fine saw and level the cut face with a file on a flat surface, so that the model stands level once it is fitted. Before gluing, wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap so that the mold release agent disappears. It is bonded with cyanoacrylate glue; check dry beforehand how the wheel seats on the landing gear leg. Sand resin wet and with respiratory protection. When painting, it proves its worth to mask the disc with a circular mask or a template, spray the tire a dark shade and add the disc afterwards. A tire should not be pure black; a dark gray shade lightly dusted with pigment looks better.
