An injection-molded plastic kit of the Kugisho E14Y1 Model 11 Early in 1:72 scale from the Polish maker Hobby 2000. It is a reboxed plastic tooling of Japanese origin with good decals and painting masks added. The Early designation points to the early production version of the aircraft; the box is also usually supplied with a catapult part. The exact contents of the set are given in the manufacturer's catalog.
The Kugisho E14Y1 (Allied reporting name Glen) was a small Japanese reconnaissance floatplane of the Second World War. It was designed to fit, when folded, into the hangar of Japanese submarines, from which it was launched by catapult and, after landing on the water, folded and stowed again. It was used for long-range naval reconnaissance; it became famous among other things as the only Japanese aircraft that carried out a raid over the continental United States during the war.
Glue the small parts and the float struts with liquid cement for plastic and let them dry well, so that the structure holds its shape. Lay down a primer before painting, spray the camouflage with an airbrush and keep the canopy glazing clear with the masks supplied. For the fine Japanese national insignia and markings, use a gloss coat under the decals, so that no silvering edges appear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
