The wheeled armored vehicle 1:72 LAV-150 APC 90mm Mecar Gun from Trumpeter is a plastic kit of a four-wheeled carrier with a gun turret.
Responsibility details are not available.
The kit in hard polystyrene represents an amphibious armored vehicle of the Commando family in the version with a rotating turret carrying a gun of Belgian design. The small scale keeps the model a reasonable size, and yet the hatches, the vision ports and the boat-like shape of the hull front all stay legible on it.
The Commando family came about in the 1960s as a universal wheeled platform for patrol and reconnaissance duty. A welded monocoque hull, drive to all four wheels and the ability to swim without preparation made it a popular export article, and the machine reached the armament of dozens of armies and police forces. The version with a 90 mm gun firing low-pressure rounds moved the light vehicle into the role of infantry support without its losing mobility on made-up roads.
With small armored vehicles the wheels take the most work: fit them only once the chassis is painted and make sure all four seat on a level plane. The rubber tires come out better in a dark gray than in black. Finally, a hint of dust from the bottom of the hull upward is useful, because wheeled hardware throws up a markedly different trail than a tracked vehicle.
The box does not hold paints or glue.
