1:72 Leeuwarden Air Base Netherlands is a printed acrylic display base with the surface of a Dutch air base for models in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The board measures 280 x 180 millimeters, the material is acrylic three millimeters thick and the weight comes to 170 grams. In the chosen scale that corresponds to roughly twenty meters of real surface, so a single-engine fighter will fit comfortably on the base with a margin from the edge.
Leeuwarden lies in the north of the Netherlands in Friesland and is one of the busiest airfields of the Royal Netherlands Air Force. For long decades F-16 fighters took off from here, replaced in time by fifth-generation machines. The base also hosts a large international exercise, to which air arms gather from all over Europe and from overseas, so models in foreign finishes look good on the base too.
It comes out best in soft side light, which draws out the texture of the concrete and yet does not create a reflection on the smooth acrylic aimed into the lens. Hold the camera low, roughly at the height of the landing gear, so that the plane stretches away to an imagined horizon. Behind the model a neutral light wall with no pattern is enough, so that the machine and the base do not share the attention.
The package holds exclusively the display base with no additional equipment of any kind.
