A plastic kit of the American wheeled armored vehicle M1240 M-ATV in the version with the O-GPK gunner's structure. Besides the injection-molded plastic parts the package holds a photo-etched fret and a small sheet of decals, so even fine details can be fine-tuned that cannot be molded in plastic in 1:72. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The M-ATV belongs to the MRAP family of vehicles, that is machines built so as to protect the crew against mines, booby-trap devices and ambushes. Against the heavy and, in rough country, unwieldy vehicles of the older generation it came about as a lighter and considerably more agile machine that can move in mountainous and unimproved terrain as well. A characteristic feature is the V-shaped hull tub, which deflects the blast wave of an explosion away from the crew compartment, and the mighty independent wheels with long travel. The abbreviation O-GPK denotes the armored structure on the roof, which protects the gunner at the ring-mounted machine gun station with armor plates and vision blocks of tough glass.
In 1:72 the parts are small, so tweezers, a sharp scalpel and thin plastic cement applied with a fine brush pay off. Bend the photo-etched parts over a sharp edge or in a bender and glue them with super glue. Before painting, spray the whole model with a primer, so that the shade holds the same on plastic and on metal. Spray the base sand or khaki shade with an airbrush, lighten the transitions by brightening the upper surfaces and finally add dust effects with pigments and a wash into the hollows and around the chassis. Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat and seal them with a matte one.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
