An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Abrams main battle tank in the small 1:72 scale. The name of the box gives two upgrade forms of the vehicle, the M1A1 to the AIM(SA) standard and the M1A2, so you choose from the building instructions which of them to build. Check the particular contents of the package, the number of parts and the choice of markings against the instructions enclosed in the box.
The M1 Abrams is an American main battle tank taken into service at the beginning of the 1980s. It is powered by a gas turbine, has composite armor and from the M1A1 version carries a 120 mm smoothbore gun. The AIM designation refers to a program of complete overhauls and upgrades under which vehicles were returned to service to an updated standard, and the SA suffix means an extension of situational awareness features. The M1A2 version brought further changes to the commander's and observation equipment. The Abrams is among the most widespread Western tanks and is a fixture among models.
In 1:72 scale it is cleanness of work that decides. Cut the parts off the sprues with nippers, sand the remaining sprue gates with fine paper and glue them with a thin cement for plastic, which is drawn into the seam by capillary action. Finish and paint the running gear and the inner parts of the hull before you close the hull up. Apply the base with primer, spray the base shade with an airbrush and keep the modulation fine, so that the model does not look overdone at a small scale. At the end a dark wash into the engraved lines, dry brushing of the edges and dust pigments on the running gear and the lower part of the hull all help.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
