An injection-molded plastic kit of the American F/A-18F Super Hornet carrier-based multirole fighter in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Academy, with the markings of squadron VFA-2, the Bounty Hunters. The modern tooling offers finely engraved panel lines, a detailed cockpit and landing gear and a clear breakdown of the parts.
The Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet is the two-seat version of the modern American carrier-based multirole fighter operated by the US Navy. It handles both air combat and strikes on ground and naval targets and is the backbone of the carrier air wings. Compared with the original Hornet, the Super Hornet has a larger airframe, more powerful engines and greater range and weapons load. Squadron VFA-2, the Bounty Hunters, is among the traditional units flying Super Hornets from the decks of aircraft carriers.
In 1:72 scale, liquid cement for plastic and careful cleaning up of the seams pay off. Cover the cockpit glazing with a mask, apply a primer and spray thin coats with an airbrush. Modern carrier fighters wear faded low-visibility grays, which are brought to life by fine shading of the panels and the stores. Paint the underwing weapons and tanks separately and fit them at the very end of the build.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
