A set of die-cut self-adhesive masks, Peewit 1:72 McDonnell F3H-2 Demon, for the cockpit glazing of the carrier fighter. An accessory for building the model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Die-cut self-adhesive masks from the Czech manufacturer Peewit for a model of the American McDonnell F3H-2 Demon carrier fighter in 1:72 scale. The masks cover the cockpit glass during spraying, so the framing of the canopy comes out precisely and with no bleeding. It is not a kit but a modeling accessory.
The set is cut from thin low-tack kabuki-type masking tape. The material adapts to the curve of the teardrop canopy, holds even on narrow edges and as a rule leaves no glue once taken off. The individual pieces are peeled off with tweezers and pressed onto a degreased, dry surface.
The Demon is a jet carrier fighter of the 1950s with a swept wing and a low, aerodynamically smoothed canopy whose frame forms a fairly thin outline. It is precisely thin outlines that are hardest by hand, because every tremor shows on the finished model. A mask gives the edge a clear line and the frame can be sprayed in exactly the shade the surrounding airframe has, on naval machines usually a light lower and a darker upper surface.
With two-color naval schemes, stick the masks down before spraying and leave them in place throughout, including the application of the gloss varnish under the decals. Seal the edge of the mask with a thin coat of varnish, so that the paint does not seep in. Take the masks off only once the paint has set and pull them at an angle along the surface, so that the coat does not peel off at a sharp edge.
The package contains only masks. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery.
