A set of photo-etched parts in 1:72 scale for a model of the Soviet Mi-24V attack helicopter. Thin metal sheet replaces detail that is inevitably coarser in plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mi-24 is a Soviet attack helicopter that differs from machines of its class in that, besides its armament, it can also carry troops in a rear cabin. The crew sit one behind the other under separate canopies, the weapons systems operator in front and the pilot higher up behind him. On the sides of the fuselage it carries stub wings with pylons, and the landing gear is wheeled and retracts in flight. The V version is among the most widespread forms and served in many armed forces long after the end of the Cold War.
Photo-etched parts of thin metal sheet in 1:72 scale. Sheet is made in thicknesses a plastic part cannot reach, and it therefore suits features that are to be really thin or pierced. The scope of the parts, their position on the model and the kit they are cut for are given in the instructions supplied by the manufacturer.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with pliers, which will bend the sheet. Level the remainder after separation with a fine file. Make the bends along the pressed score lines, best in a bending tool or between the jaws of flat tweezers, and bend in one movement. Cement for polystyrene will not bond metal; use cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy in small amounts. Before painting, degrease the sheet and lay a base coat on it, otherwise the paint will not hold on smooth metal. In 1:72 scale the parts are really tiny, so it pays to work over a surface with a raised edge.
The kit of the helicopter, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
