1:72 MiG-15UTI is a masking set from the Czech maker Eduard for a model of the two-seat trainer version of the MiG-15 fighter in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Pre-cut masks for painting a MiG-15UTI model in 1:72 scale. The trainer version has two separate cockpits in tandem under a long canopy, so there are more frames to mask than on the single-seat fighter, and cutting tape by hand in this scale takes a great deal of time. The set is an add-on to a kit, not a model or a spare part. Sets that Eduard designates as TFace mask the glazing from the inside as well; this item does not carry that designation.
The MiG-15UTI is the two-seat trainer conversion of the single-engine MiG-15 jet fighter. It came about by rebuilding the airframe for two seats in tandem and became one of the most widespread jet trainers of its day, operated by a number of countries including Czechoslovakia. Characteristic of it is the extended cockpit glazing with several frames.
In 1:72 scale the frame of the canopy is a fraction of a millimeter wide and a hand-cut strip of tape is hard to align straight on it. Paint that runs over is also difficult to put right on a clear part. A pre-cut mask holds the shape of the frame given by the kit, shortens the whole operation to a few minutes and at the same time protects the glazing from fogging while you spray the surrounding areas of the fuselage.
This is an add-on to a model, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
