This resin set of the Quickboost brand, made by Aires, brings precisely cast auxiliary air scoops for the sides of the fuselage for a model of the MiG-21 fighter in the MF, bis and SMT versions in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane model but a detail accessory for more experienced modelers that replaces the simplified plastic parts with a crisper and more faithful casting.
The MiG-21 was a Soviet single-engine supersonic fighter with a characteristic delta wing. It became one of the most widely built jet fighters in history and, in many upgraded versions, among them the MF, bis and SMT, it served with dozens of air forces around the world.
First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water to remove any mold release residue from the mold. Cut the casting blocks off with a sharp saw or a knife and sand the cut surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond the parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), not with ordinary plastic cement. Try the fit dry before painting; resin may need a little cleaning up.
The set is supplied as a resin part, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
