This set from Quinta Studio is a color 3D interior decal printed on decal paper. It takes the place of laborious painting and photo-etching of a cockpit, because the instrument panel, the side panels, the seat and further detail are pre-printed in faithful colors and have fine raised relief. It is intended for MiG-25 BM models in 1:72 scale.
The individual elements are separated and applied much like wet decals: the piece is dipped briefly in water and slid onto the place prepared for it in the cockpit. The relief printing creates the impression of three-dimensionally shaped instruments and a control stick, so the result looks realistic even under a magnifier. The set handles the color and texture side of the interior; the plastic cockpit parts themselves come from the original kit.
Degrease the surface, keep it smooth and seal it with gloss varnish, settle the decal onto a damp surface and press it gently with a soft brush. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemicals attack the printed resin and ruin the element. Once dry, the whole can be evened out with a thin coat of matte or semi-gloss varnish.
This is a modeling accessory, not a stand-alone kit. The plastic model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
