A plastic kit of the Japanese carrier-based torpedo aircraft Nakajima B5N2 Kate in 1:72 scale from manufacturer Hasegawa.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from manufacturer Hasegawa depicting the Japanese carrier-based torpedo and strike aircraft Nakajima B5N2, known to the Allies under the codename Kate. The package includes plastic parts, clear parts for the cockpit glazing, and decals. The exact number of parts and marking schemes is given in the instructions included in the box.
The Nakajima B5N was the standard carrier-based torpedo bomber of the Imperial Japanese Navy for most of the Second World War. The B5N2 version received a more powerful radial engine. A three-man crew (pilot, navigator/observer, and radio operator/gunner) operated the aircraft, which could carry an aerial torpedo or bombs. Kates left a significant mark on history in the strike on Pearl Harbor and in the battles of the Coral Sea, Midway, and the Santa Cruz Islands.
Finish and paint the glazed cockpit and interior before closing up the fuselage; the large glazed area can be assembled so that the interior remains visible. Use thin liquid cement on the plastic, and glue the clear parts with canopy cement. Apply a primer before airbrushing. Japanese naval schemes come to life nicely with panel lines highlighted by a wash and subtle weathering of exhaust stains and worn surfaces.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
