Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of the American North American P-51B Mustang fighter in 1:72 scale from Academy. The model captures the early version of the Mustang with its characteristic framed canopy (the so-called razorback) before the bubble hood came in. It contains an engraved surface, a cockpit, landing gear, clear parts for the canopy glazing and decals for period machines. It is an accessible kit suited to building even by less experienced modelers.
The P-51B was one of the first versions of the Mustang fitted with the license-built British Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine (Packard in American production). It was this engine that turned the Mustang from an average machine into a first-rate long-range escort fighter, which thanks to its great range protected bomber formations deep over Germany. The B version still had framed canopy glazing with a poorer view to the rear, which was solved in the later versions with a bubble hood.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with thin liquid cement for plastic. Finish the cockpit and pick it out with a wash before you close up the fuselage. Mask the canopy glazing for crisp frames. Spray the silvered or camouflage finish with an airbrush over a primer base in thin coats and bring it to life with a fine panel wash; apply the decals on a smooth gloss base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
