This accessory set from Eduard replaces the kit wheels of the Mustang with wheels with a cross tread pattern. A seemingly small detail, but one that decides a great deal: the landing gear of a fighter model is visible at first glance and flat little wheels with no definition can needlessly pull down an otherwise well-made build.
Mustangs were given tires of several types during production and service, differing precisely in the tread pattern; alongside the cross tread there were, among others, diamond, oval and block patterns. The manufacturer therefore offers the individual patterns as separate sets and the modeler chooses according to a photograph of the machine being built. Thanks to that, even two otherwise identical silver Mustangs can be told apart on one shelf. Choosing the right pattern is an easy way to give a build documentary depth.
Paint the wheels separately and fit them to the model only after the final matte varnish. Treat the rubber part in a very dark gray, the rims according to the subject, and apply a spot wash into the centers of the hubs, which will deepen the three-dimensional quality. The contact patch at the ground can be sanded down slightly; the wheel then looks naturally loaded.
