A double-sided set of masks for painting a model of the Soviet AC-40 (130)-63B fire vehicle in 1:72 scale, cut for the AVD kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The AC-40 (130)-63B is a Soviet fire-fighting tanker pumper built on the chassis of an ordinary truck. The vehicle carries a water tank, a pump and lockers with equipment, so the crew arrived at an incident with their own supply and did not have to look for a hydrant straight away. Machines of this series served all over the Eastern Bloc and belonged among the most frequently seen fire vehicles of their day. The designation in the name is the factory marking by which the individual variants are told apart.
The set is listed as double-sided: the masks are cut for the outer as well as the inner side of the parts. The cab glazing can thus be sprayed from both sides and the window frame stays sharp even when seen from inside, which shows a great deal on a vehicle with large windows. The masks are cut for the parts of the AVD kit in 1:72 scale; the instructions in the package give the exact scope of the set.
Apply the mask before spraying, to a clean and degreased part, and press the edge down along its whole length with a blunt point so that the paint does not run under it. Apply the paint in several thin coats instead of one heavy one. Remove the mask as soon as the paint is dry to the touch, and pull it back over itself at an angle. The red lacquer usual on fire equipment covers only after several coats, so put a light base under it and check the edge of the mask as you go.
For builders of civilian and fire-fighting vehicles in 1:72 scale. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
