1:72 Plastic barriers are diorama plastic barriers of the kind that separate traffic lanes and mark off a closed area.

An accessory for modern town and road scenes. The real subject is the portable plastic barrier, which in reality is filled with water or sand and serves to separate traffic lanes, mark off a construction site or close an entrance. In 1:72 they are set directly onto the roadway of a finished scene.
They belong to scenes of the last few decades: diversions, checkpoints, road repairs, emergency services at the site of an incident. Stood in a row, they lead the viewer's eye and at the same time give the scene a rhythm. A barrier turned at an angle or knocked over, on the other hand, hints that something has happened here, and that without a single further prop.
Real barriers tend to be in strong warning colors, which fade quickly in the sun. Spray a strong base therefore and lighten the surface slightly so that it looks sun-bleached. Suggest wear on the edges with a dry brush in a lighter shade and dirty the lower part with dust and splashes from wheels. A matte varnish will finally unify the sheen, so that the elements do not shine out against the rest of the scene.
Stand the individual pieces with slight differences in their angle; a perfectly aligned row looks lifeless. Real barriers get shifted by passing vehicles, lean against each other and are worn to differing degrees, so a little irregularity is an advantage here, not a mistake.
