A set of 1:72 decals for the Polish two-seat MiG-21UM with a coloring tied to the tiger tradition. In the name the sheet is designated as part one.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MiG-21UM training version came about so that a pilot moving onto a slender supersonic machine would not have to make his first flight alone. The instructor sits behind the pupil, a periscope above the rear canopy gives him a view forward, and the cockpit is noticeably longer than on the combat versions. Part of the armament and the fuel had to give way, but the handling stayed comparable.
In the Polish Air Force the MiG-21s served for whole decades and were said farewell to shortly after the country joined NATO. Several airframes were given a colorful finish tied to the tiger tradition, which looked exceptionally striking on otherwise inconspicuously gray and silvery aircraft. It is precisely these machines that the sheet deals with, and in the name it presents itself as part one.
Reference material for the build is easy to come by, as several brands offer a two-seat MiG-21 in the small scale. The quality of the box decals differs a great deal between them, so separate markings make sense even with the newer molds. Just watch the shape of the rear cockpit and the periscope, which differs between individual molds.
The thin carrier film calls for careful blotting of the excess water from around the artwork. A dried water mark will show more under matte varnish than one would expect.
