Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. B 1:72 from the Polish maker IBG models is a plastic kit of the early version of the German medium tank with the short 7.5 cm gun.

A plastic kit of the early production version of the German medium tank Panzerkampfwagen IV. The model comes from The World at War range of the Polish maker IBG models, which is conceived as easy to build and aims at collectors of Second World War vehicles in a small scale. The Ausf. B version is interesting precisely because it differs from the later and far more widespread versions in the shape of the front plate of the superstructure and in other design details.
In the prewar concept the Pz.Kpfw. IV was intended as a support tank armed with a short 7.5 cm gun, which was to destroy field fortifications and resistant targets. The Ausf. B version came about at the end of the 1930s and brought, compared with the first series, a stronger Maybach HL 120 TR engine and thicker frontal armor on the superstructure. Its characteristic recognition feature is the straight front plate of the superstructure with no protruding driver's box. Only a short series was built, so the vehicles of this version were represented in the inventory only marginally and lasted in combat only through the first years of the war.
Start the assembly with the running gear and the lower hull; line the wheels and rollers up on a flat surface, so that the model later stands without rocking. Clean and degrease the tracks before painting. Apply a primer, then the base shade with an airbrush in thin coats, and lighten the surfaces with a gentle brightening of the centers, which visually enlarges the volume in 1:72 scale. Bring the detail out with a dark wash in the engraved lines and set dust and mud pigments on the fenders and on the running surface of the tracks. Create the chipping on the edges carefully, so that it does not look coarse in a small scale.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The glue, the paints and the accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
