Kit of the Pz.Kpfw. VIII Maus (V2) in 1:72 scale: the German super-heavy tank of the Second World War, the largest ever built, in the V2 prototype version.
Responsibility details are not available.
A detailed injection-molded plastic kit of the German super-heavy Maus tank in the V2 prototype version. Despite the small scale the kit offers a high level of detail: a metal barrel, photo-etched parts and decals for several options. The turret is produced with slide-mold technology, which means it consists of a minimum of parts, and the tracks are of the link-and-length type.
The Maus was the heaviest tank ever built, a German super-heavy prototype with massive armor and a large-caliber gun. Only two prototypes were made; the V2 version differs from the surviving museum example, because that one combines the hull of one prototype with the turret of the other. Its enormous weight made the vehicle practically immobile and the Maus never reached series production, yet it remains an icon of the oversized designs of the end of the war.
In the small scale take care over a clean fit and gentle cutting of the parts; glue the photo-etched pieces with cyanoacrylate glue. The metal barrel gives the model strength as well as a realistic look. Finish the running gear and the link-and-length tracks separately. Weathering suits the German three-tone or dark yellow camouflage: a panel wash, drybrushing on the edges and dust pigments on the lower parts of the massive hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
