The prefabricated concrete fence is one of the most conspicuous features of the post-Soviet landscape. It encloses barracks, fuel depots, repair works, railway stations and building sites, and it stands there essentially unchanged for decades. It is made up of ready-cast concrete panels seated between posts, so it can be put up quickly and in any length. The type designation P6Vm refers precisely to the shape of such a panel.
The set brings this fence in 1:72 scale, that is in the scale usual for aviation and military dioramas and for models of smaller equipment. A fence is enormously useful in a scene: it closes off the view, separates the compound from its surroundings and above all gives the diorama a boundary, so that it does not look like a patch cut out of the middle of a field. It also joins up easily, so you set the length of the enclosure yourself.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting and let them dry. Cut surplus material and traces of manufacture off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder away. Stand the fence on a flat surface and sink the bottom edge into the terrain so that it does not sit on the surface like a piece of scenery. Never paint concrete in one clean gray: start with a light gray base with a hint of beige, add uneven patches, dark staining running down under the top edge and a greenish deposit at ground level. Shade the posts a little differently from the panels, so that it is clear these are two different castings.
The accessory is for builders of dioramas and display case scenes in 1:72 scale. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
