This set of resin castings from the manufacturer Black Dog is intended for finishing out a plastic model of the German tank destroyer Sd.Kfz. 162 Jagdpanzer IV in 1:72 scale. It is neither a model of the vehicle nor a kit — it is an accessory that is added to a finished or a part-built model. Sets of this kind give a vehicle the look of being in service, that is the thing that distinguishes a clean model out of the box from a scene with a story.
The Jagdpanzer IV was a German tank destroyer built on the running gear of the medium tank Pz.Kpfw. IV. A low fixed superstructure with sloped front armor plates replaced the rotating turret, and in it a 75 mm Pak 39 gun with a barrel 48 calibers long was mounted. The designation Sd.Kfz. 162 belongs to this very version; the later form with a longer barrel is listed in the documents under a different number. The low silhouette and the sloped armor make the vehicle a rewarding object for a model and for a diorama.
First wash the castings in lukewarm water with a detergent — that removes residues of the mold release agent, without which the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, and never break them off. While sanding, use a respirator and sand wet, as resin dust is not to be breathed in. It is glued exclusively with super glue; ordinary glue for plastic will not join resin. Spray a primer on before painting and paint the accessories separately from the vehicle, while you still have access to them from all sides.
The set is a resin accessory for a model of the vehicle, not a kit on its own. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
