Dead Design 1:72 Sea Vixen FAW.2 is a set of national insignia masks. The insignia arises straight in the finish, without the carrier film that causes silvering with decals.

A Dead Design set for models of the British carrier-borne aircraft de Havilland Sea Vixen FAW.2 in 1:72 scale. These are templates for the national insignia, not glazing masks, so they are used only at the stage when the airframe is painted.
The Sea Vixen is a large twin-boom aircraft with big lifting surfaces and with a multitude of engraved panel lines. A decal on such a surface breaks across the edges, over engraved lines it often ripples, and its transparent carrier film then creates a visible outline around the insignia. A sprayed insignia does not have this problem. It follows the surface exactly, because it is made of paint, and so it can neither come away nor silver.
British circular insignia are made up of several colored fields, and that is why they are applied in layers. Every layer has its mask and what decides is the register, that is, settling the next mask exactly onto the previous one. Dose the paint thinly, otherwise a step arises at the edge that will shift the register. Between the layers let it dry properly and take the mask off at a sharp angle. At the end a clear coat sprayed over, which unifies the insignia with the rest of the surface, comes in handy. Settle large circular masks from the center toward the edges, so that no air bubble is caught under the film, which would lift the edge.
