1:72 Shisei Kikka National Insignias And Markings is a set of pre-cut masks for the national insignia and other markings of the Japanese Kikka jet prototype in 1:72 scale from Dead Design.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks with which the national insignia and accompanying markings are not applied to a model as decals but laid on with paint. The markings then have no carrier film, cannot silver at the edges and take a matte overcoat and weathering without harm. It is not a kit but an accessory for building a model.
The Kikka was a jet aircraft of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service, completed only at the very end of the Second World War. The designation Shisei corresponds to the experimental, that is prototype, state of the machine. It got into the air only shortly before the end of the war and never reached series service, so very few machines and very little documentation survive. For a modeler it is one of the most interesting subjects in Japanese aviation, because it links the Japanese school of design with early jet technology.
The base must be smooth, clean and degreased. Press the mask down all the way around, so that paint cannot flow under the edge. Spray perpendicular to the surface and in thin coats; on a dark finish spray a light base first, so that the final color covers. Lift the mask off shortly after it has dried, while the layer of paint is flexible, and at the end unify the markings with their surroundings by varnishing.
