A supplementary set of photo-etched parts for the Volvo 240 Turbo model in 1:24 scale from the Japanese brand Nunu Models. The set is there so that elements which in injection-molded plastic are necessarily too thick can be replaced by thin metal pressings. Typically these are radiator grilles, meshes, brake discs, hood fasteners and the small details of a racing interior.
The Volvo 240 Turbo is a boxy sedan with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that in the mid-1980s became one of the most successful Group A cars in the European touring car championship. It is precisely the contrast between the civilian, almost crate-like shape of the body and the racing hardware that makes this car a rewarding modeling subject. On a model the wide fenders, the racing wheels and the turbocharged engine stand out most.
Cut the photo-etched parts off on a hard surface and never tear them out. Make the folds in a bending tool or between two blades, and always along the whole length at once, or the edge will ripple. Apply super glue in a tiny amount with the tip of a wire; the excess turns white and shows on glossy paint. For parts that carry a load, reach for two-part epoxy, which gives you time to seat them precisely. The metal has to be degreased and sprayed with primer before painting. Fit the photo-etched parts only onto a finished and polished body, as they are the last elements to go onto the model.
This is a supplementary set, not a car model. The kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
