This plastic kit in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter captures the Soviet KV-122 heavy tank. The model is injection-molded in hard polystyrene and is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The smaller scale makes it a rewarding project for one or two weekends and a fitting addition to Eastern Front dioramas.
The KV-122 appeared at the close of the Second World War as an attempt to fit the proven chassis of the KV series with the powerful 122 mm D-25T gun. This caliber eventually became the main armament of the legendary IS-2 heavy tank, so the KV-122 represents an important development step between the KV vehicles and the new generation of Soviet heavy tanks. It combines a robust armored hull with a massive gun turret.
In this scale we recommend thin cement for plastic, which is drawn into the joints by capillary action. Finish and paint the running gear and the wheels before fitting the fenders. Soviet protective green laid down with an airbrush makes the base; darker washes in the recesses and dust and mud pigments on the running gear add depth.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
