Eduard Brassin 1:72 Spitfire exhaust stacks, fishtail is a resin set of fishtail exhaust stacks that replaces the kit exhausts on Spitfire models.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an aircraft model but a detail accessory in resin from the manufacturer Eduard. The set replaces the kit exhaust stacks on Spitfire models in 1:72 scale with faithfully cast fishtail exhausts with realistically flared outlets. The fine casting captures even the hollowed-out openings, which are not usually done in plastic.
The British Supermarine Spitfire fighter was powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine, whose exhaust stacks running along the sides of the forward fuselage are among its striking details. The fishtail form with its flattened outlet appeared on a good many versions, and a faithful rendering of it raises the realism of the model in side view.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with dish soap because of the mold release agent. Cut the casting block off carefully so as not to damage the fine outlets, sand the surfaces down with respiratory protection and bond the parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Exhausts are usually painted in a combination of rusty brown and metallic shades, and picking them out with pigments at the end suits the impression of burnt exhaust gases.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted; these are resin parts for completing a plastic model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
