This is a resin (3D-printed) detail accessory by Art Scale, not a kit. It offers a set of fishtail exhaust pipes fitted with a shroud, as the Spitfire carried them in the later period of its service. It replaces the plastic exhausts from the base Spitfire kit in 1:72 scale.
The Supermarine Spitfire with the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine used several forms of exhaust; the shrouded fishtail damped the glare and marked out the later machines. It is a clearly visible feature on the fuselage, and a faithful rendering of it raises the realism of a model.
Wash the resin residue off the parts, separate them from the print supports and glue them with super glue. Pick the open outlets out in a dark shade inside. For painting, burnt steel and a metallic brown toned with pigments and a wash work well.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
