A photo-etched set of parts in 1:72 scale for a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.II fighter, carried for the IBG kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Spitfire Mk.II followed on from the first production version of the British fighter and differed from its predecessor mainly in a more powerful powerplant; in the shape of its airframe and its elliptical wing it stayed very close to the Mk.I. The differences between the two versions are therefore a matter of details, and it is precisely the details that decide whether a finished model reads as a particular machine. At 1:72 scale that goes doubly: the model is small and a viewer looks at it from close up.
Photo-etched parts of thin metal sheet, carried for the IBG kit in 1:72 scale. A metal piece can have a thickness matching the subject, whereas injection-molded plastic has to be thicker for manufacturing reasons. The difference shows most on the edges and on areas which in reality are perforated. An overview of the parts and their placing is given in the enclosed instructions, which it pays to follow from the first steps of the build.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard mat and hold them with a finger while you do, so they do not spring away. Make the bends in a bending tool or over a metal edge and check them against the light, as a crooked line is immediately noticeable at a small scale. Apply super glue with a pin in a minute amount. Degrease the metal before painting and go over it with a primer. Fit the elements that go inside the fuselage before you glue it together.
The photo-etched parts alone are supplied. The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
