A set of precisely die-cut self-adhesive masks from Peewit intended for painting the plastic model of the two-seat trainer version Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX UTI in 1:72 scale. It is neither a kit nor a finished model: these are painting masks that cover the frames of the glazing of both cockpits reliably while the paint is sprayed. On the two-seat version with its longer canopy, the set therefore covers more glazed areas at once. The masks are shaped to fit one specific kit in this scale.
The Spitfire Mk.IX was among the most successful versions of this British fighter, with the two-stage supercharged Rolls-Royce Merlin 60 series engine. The UTI designation refers to the two-seat trainer conversion, in which a second, raised cockpit for the instructor was built in behind the original one. Spitfires converted in this way were used for converting pilots after the Second World War.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit. The model itself, the paints and the glue are not included in the package.
