1:72 Spitfire Mk.VC Wing Guns (two guns) is a resin accessory set from CMK that sharpens the wing armament on a Spitfire model in the two-cannon variant for the Airfix kit. It is not a kit of an aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory from the Czech manufacturer CMK, cast in modeling resin, intended to be swapped in for the corresponding parts of the Airfix plastic kit of the Spitfire Mk.VC in 1:72 scale. The package does not contain a model of the aircraft; it is a replacement for small armament parts. The exact number of parts and the full makeup of the set are stated on the box.
The Mk.VC version received the so-called universal wing, which allowed more armament variants, among them an arrangement with two cannons or with four. The designation in the name of the set refers precisely to the two-cannon variant, so you can use it to pick the form matching the machine you are building. Injection-molded plastic can produce the barrels and their fairings only to a limited fineness, whereas cast resin holds thinner walls and a crisper shape. A sister set for the four-cannon variant also exists, so check which configuration you need before ordering.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a new blade; with thin parts work over a mat so that a small piece does not roll away, as snapping resin on slender shapes risks cracking it. Sand the remains of the blocks down and protect your airways. Dry-fit the seating in the wing first and, if necessary, widen the openings in the plastic carefully. Glue resin with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint over a primer; the metal parts shade well with a dark metallic tone and a gentle rub of graphite or pigment, and it pays to bring out the muzzle with a darker tone.
The set is supplied unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
