The American-built Studebaker trucks belonged in the Second World War among the most widespread heavy off-road vehicles; they carried three axles, massive fenders and a flatbed body with a wooden floor and drop sides. They were used for carrying cargo as well as troops, and in a number of armies they stayed in service after the war too. It is precisely the body, the fenders and the steps that tend to be the place on a model where thin metal looks incomparably better than plastic.
Long narrow parts, such as the rails of the drop sides or the fenders, twist easily. It pays to straighten them between two smooth surfaces and to handle them with flat tweezers, not pointed ones. If the sheet metal is too springy, it can be carefully warmed over a flame, by which it softens and holds its shape better; let a warmed part cool completely, however, before you touch it. Apply the paint only after gluing, so that the glue holds on bare metal, and use primer. Wipe residue of cyanoacrylate off at once, as once dry it leaves matte smears.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as an accessory to a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
