An injection-molded plastic kit of the Sukhoi Su-17M3 fighter-bomber in 1:72 scale from Modelsvit. The model offers fine surface detail and a rich breakdown of parts. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and a decal sheet is usually part of the package.
The Su-17M3 is one of the more advanced versions of the Soviet Su-17 series of fighter-bombers (Fitter in the NATO reporting system). The characteristic feature is the variable-geometry wing, on which the outer sections pivot according to the flight regime. The M3 version brought a reworked fuselage, a greater fuel load and an increased weapon load.
Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and follow the instructions when assembling the pivoting wing. Finish the cockpit and the landing gear before closing the fuselage. A primer as a ground and spraying with an airbrush are advisable, and the camouflage is best laid on in thin coats.
