Replacement wheels for a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vc in 1:72 scale. An accessory for a finished kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Supermarine Spitfire is a British fighter of the Second World War, and the Mk.V version is among its most widespread forms. The letter c in the designation refers to the wing, which could carry different armament fits, so the same machines appeared in different configurations. The landing gear of the Spitfire is slender and very much on view on a model, especially on a display piece built with the flaps up and the gear extended.
The replacement wheels take the place of the wheels from the kit. They pay off above all where the original parts are split into two halves and gluing them together leaves a seam all the way around the tire, which then has to be laboriously sanded away. Which particular parts the set contains and how they seat into the landing gear fork are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut off the excess material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and carefully sand the rest down, so that the axle of the wheel stays perpendicular. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold. Use super glue for bonding. Paint the hub and the tire separately; the boundary between them can be handled either with a circular mask or with a steady hand and a brush. If the tires have a flat spot molded in from the weight of the machine, turn them when gluing so that the flattened area faces the ground.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
