Responsibility details are not available.
The continuation of the theme from Star Decals for models in 1:72 scale. The time span reaches from 1942 to 1943 and concerns the initial, early and mid production versions of the Tiger I tank.
The s.Pz.Abt. 503 battalion was among the units that received the Tiger I shortly after it was put into production. The winter turn of the two years is rewarding from a modeling point of view, because in it machines in factory form meet examples that had already been through repair and the topping up of equipment with the unit. The markings from this sheet are intended for the same unit as the first sheet, only with a shifted center of gravity in time. Small scales tend to hint at such differences rather than draw them out to the last detail.
The hull and the turret of the Tiger are not smooth: bolts, welds, eyes and fittings create unevenness over which the membrane readily bridges. A solution of softener applied to a seated decal helps. The membrane softens, settles into the relief and, once dry, follows the shape like paint. Do not move the decal while it is acting, otherwise it will crease. Wipe the remains of adhesive around the edges off with a damp cloth before the final varnish comes.
