A plastic kit of the Hungarian light tank Toldi IIa in 1:72 scale from IBG Models. The injection-molded set contains parts in gray plastic, link-and-length tracks and a decal sheet with the markings of Hungarian vehicles. The model offers a faithful shape of the real tank and a decent level of detail, suited to collectors of less common vehicles.
The Toldi was a Hungarian light tank stemming from the Swedish Landsverk L-60 design. The Toldi IIa version was a noticeable improvement - the weak 20 mm gun was replaced by a more effective 40 mm gun and the armor was strengthened too. Toldis fought from 1941 in the Balkans and on the Eastern Front, where against Soviet vehicles they gradually proved to be inadequately armed and armored. Even so they remain an interesting and visually rewarding subject that is not often modeled.
Assemble and line up the running gear and the link-and-length tracks before closing the hull. Glue the plastic parts with thin modeling cement. After spraying the primer, lay down the color base with an airbrush according to the Hungarian scheme, pick out the recesses and rivets with washes and add pigments for dust and mud effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
