A set of parts for detailing the exterior of a 1:72 model of the British TSR-2, intended for the Airfix kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The TSR-2 was a British tactical strike and reconnaissance aircraft from the first half of the 1960s. It was built as a long, slender machine with a high-mounted delta wing and it remains one of the best-known programs that ended with prototypes and never reached production. That is exactly what makes it a rewarding subject: every example built shows a machine that never entered service.
This is a set of parts for the exterior of the model, that is, for everything visible on the finished kit without opening any hatches. The exact composition of the set is given in the manufacturer's instructions; they also set out which original kit parts have to be cut away or sanded down before the new parts go on. Exterior accessories are worth dry-fitting before the model is closed up, because once the fuselage is glued there is no moving the seating of a part.
Detail parts are usually not polystyrene, so ordinary cement for plastic kits will not hold on them; cyanoacrylate is more reliable, and two-part epoxy on larger surfaces. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder carefully so as not to take anything off the shape. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the coat will not key properly. A dry run will show you how much more material still has to come off.
For the modeler who wants sharper detail on a small-scale TSR-2 than the base kit offers. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
