About product

Hawker Typhoon Mk.I engine 1:72 (Special Hobby)

This resin detail set in 1:72 scale brings a faithfully rendered engine of the Hawker Typhoon Mk.I fighter. It lets you open the panels on the forward fuselage and display the powerplant together with the surrounding panels, which markedly increases the realism of the finished model.

The real subject

The Typhoon was powered by the massive 24-cylinder Napier Sabre, an H engine with liquid cooling. This powerful engine made the Typhoon a fast low-level fighter-bomber that became famous above all for attacks on ground targets in the closing stage of the Second World War.

Building and painting tips

Wash the mold release residue off the parts and separate them from the casting blocks. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). We recommend painting the engine before you close the panels, picking out the lines and hoses and weathering it with a wash to emphasize the detail. This conversion requires cutting the relevant panels out of the fuselage parts.

Who the set is for

  • modelers who want to display the engine of their Typhoon
  • more experienced builders working with resin
  • builders of dioramas with a technical scene

This is an add-on set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
