This set belongs among the small accessories that turn a lone aircraft model into a whole scene. It contains miniature American fire extinguishers in 1:72 scale, that is the kind of equipment that was a routine part of airfield hardstands, hangars and support vehicles. On its own it is not a kit of an aircraft or a vehicle — it is a set of accessories to be placed beside a finished model or into a diorama.
A fire extinguisher is an object you see practically everywhere in period and present-day photographs of an airfield, and yet it is almost always missing from a modeling scene. It is exactly these small things that make the difference between a model on display and a believable scene: they give the eye a reference for scale and fill an otherwise empty area of the base. The 1:72 scale is the most widespread of all for aircraft models, so the set suits fighters, bombers and helicopters, and works just as well with support vehicles or with figures of ground personnel.
Separate the small parts carefully and clean them up first, and only then glue them. With accessories this small, cyanoacrylate glue applied on the tip of a pin works well — ordinary plastic cement need not hold on other materials. Degrease the parts before painting and lay down a thin coat of primer, otherwise the paint holds poorly on a smooth surface. Red covers very reluctantly, so spray it over a light base. Depth comes from a final dark wash run into the recesses and from fine drybrushing of the edges; in this scale the plates and lettering can be suggested with a fine brush or with a scrap of decal.
