An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier-borne multirole fighter F/A-18E Super Hornet in 1:72 scale from Academy, in the markings of the naval squadron VFA-143 Pukin Dogs. The model is built from individual parts and is intended to be glued and painted; according to the manufacturer the box contains a clear canopy and decal sheets. The sprues are, according to the manufacturer, shared with the E/F/G variants.
The F/A-18E Super Hornet is an American single-seat carrier-borne multirole fighter, the modern and enlarged successor to the original Hornet. It serves with the carrier squadrons of the US Navy for air combat as well as for attacks on ground and naval targets. The E version is the single-seat one (the two-seat one is the F). Squadron VFA-143 Pukin Dogs is one of the traditional strike fighter squadrons of the US Navy. As a carrier aircraft the Super Hornet has folding wings to save space on an aircraft carrier.
Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic parts. Finish the cockpit and the ejection seat before you close the fuselage; glue the clear canopy with a cement for clear plastics so that you do not fog the surfaces. Apply a primer before painting, spray the modern gray naval camouflage with an airbrush in shades and bring out the panel lines with a darker wash. A gloss coat helps under the decals, and a matte coat evens out the surface. If you wish, you can build the wings in the folded position for a carrier deck presentation.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
