A sheet of decals in 1:72 scale with the markings of Tiger I heavy tanks, that is, the Pz.Kpfw. VI type. According to the name, this is the first part of a series. The set serves to finish a model you build and paint separately.
The designs are small and delicate at this scale. A sharp scalpel, a cutting mat, fine-tipped tweezers and a soft brush all pay off. Cut as close to the printing as possible: the less carrier film is left, the less its edge will show once dry, which is most conspicuous at precisely these small scales.
Spray the spot under the markings with clear gloss varnish and let it cure. On matte paint, air is trapped under the film and a silvery rim appears around the design. Soak the trimmed decal for a few seconds in lukewarm water, set it aside on a paper towel and wait until it starts to slide on the backing paper. Then slide it onto the moistened spot, fine-tune the position with a brush and draw the water off from the center toward the edges. Across rivets and edges a two-part system will help: the setting solution on the base before laying, the softener on the laid decal. Dose it sparingly and, as long as the film is drying, do not touch it.
Go over the dry markings with a thin coat of gloss varnish and unify the surface with a matte or semi-matte varnish. Apply the wash and the dust gently, so that the tiny numbers and emblems stay legible.
The package contains decals. The kit, paints, varnishes and softeners are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
