1:72 XFL-1 Airabonita is a photo-etched accessory set for a plastic kit you have already bought, not an aircraft model. The metal parts replace the simplified plastic details of the American prototype.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched accessory set in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Brengun. It is intended for the RS Models plastic kit and does not make up a model on its own. The reason photo-etched parts are used at all is purely technical: an injection mold cannot make a part thinner than roughly half a millimeter, which in this scale works out at several centimeters of real sheet metal. Etched metal runs in tenths of a millimeter and matches the scale far better.
The Bell XFL-1 Airabonita was a prototype carrier fighter derived from a land-based machine with the engine mounted behind the pilot and a shaft running under the cockpit. For operation from aircraft carriers it received a conventional arrangement with a tailwheel in place of the nose gear, along with other changes to the airframe. Only one example was built and the type never went into production, which makes it an unusual subject and one sought after among modelers.
Before you reach for the scalpel, think the order of work through. The photo-etched parts for the cockpit have to be in place before you join the fuselage halves, while external details are fitted only after the base coat, or you will knock them off while masking. It pays not to cut the fret up all at once: leave the parts in the fret and take them out only at the moment you really need them.
This is an accessory set, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
