Zvezda 1:72 Yakovlev Yak-9D is a plastic kit of the Soviet Second World War fighter in the extended-range 9D version.
Responsibility details are not available.
The kit depicts the Soviet single-seat fighter Yakovlev Yak-9 in the 9D version — a variant with extended range thanks to a larger volume of wing fuel tanks. The model in 1:72 scale from manufacturer Zvezda is designed for home building and painting. It is an injection-molded plastic kit designed as snap-fit, complemented by waterslide decals.
The Yak-9 was one of the most widely used Soviet fighters of the Second World War. The Yak-9D version (long-range) carried extra fuel for a longer operating radius and suited tasks such as bomber escort and operations farther from base. It was powered by a liquid-cooled inverted-V12 Klimov engine, and its armament consisted of a cannon firing through the propeller hub plus a machine gun. The aircraft excelled in handling at low and medium altitudes.
The kit is designed as snap-fit, so glue isn't strictly necessary — though at visible joints it does refine and strengthen the assembly. Dry-fit the parts before joining them; use thin modeling cement on the plastic in a thin coat. Apply a primer before painting to unify the surface. An airbrush is ideal for even coverage of Soviet camouflage schemes; apply decals over a gloss surface and fix them with a matte varnish. Paint the small cockpit and landing-gear parts before final assembly.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
