An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aero Plast. It represents the YF-117A FSD, an aircraft from the Full Scale Development phase of the stealth program that preceded the production aircraft. The set contains polystyrene parts, clear glazing and decals; the contents may differ between individual releases.
The YF-117A were development aircraft of the American stealth program from which the production F-117 Nighthawk emerged. Characteristic features are the faceted structure of flat panels that scatters radar waves, the fully internal carriage of the armament and subsonic performance. The development aircraft differed in detail from the later production machines, for example in the shape of the fins.
The sharp faceted edges keep their shape thanks to careful gluing with liquid cement for plastic and fine sanding of the seams. The typical dark matte finish shows best after a primer coat and with an airbrush; a matte varnish will unify the surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
