1:16 Royal Marines officer is a plastic figure of an officer of the British Royal Marines in the large 1:16 scale from ICM.
Responsibility details are not available.
The figure belongs to ICM's range of large plastic figures, made up of members of uniformed and ceremonial corps from various countries. The 1:16 scale means a finished figure roughly eleven centimeters tall, so the modeling of the uniform, the equipment and the face all stand out. The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the number of parts, the height of the finished model and whether a base is included are not stated here.
The Royal Marines are the marine infantry of the British armed forces, with a long tradition. Besides its training and operational role the corps keeps up a pronounced ceremonial side as well — a dress uniform with strong color accents, headgear and badges that differ markedly from ordinary field equipment. It is precisely this visual side that makes an officer figure a rewarding subject for a large scale: the smooth areas of cloth, the contrasting piping and the small metal details all come into their own.
Before gluing, check the mold parting lines and clean them up gently with a scalpel and a sanding sponge — at a large scale every remnant shows. Fill the joints at the arms and the waist and sand them smooth. Apply a thin base coat that unifies the surface, and only then the paint. Cloth is best modeled by lightening the base shade step by step, while leather and metal call for a glossier material and a fine sheen on the edges. Build the face up from a mid flesh tone toward the shadows and the highlights; paint the eyes with a fine brush at the very end.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
