Responsibility details are not available.
A set of injection-molded plastic figures of Belgian infantry of the First World War period in 1:35 scale by ICM. It is not an aircraft or a vehicle model — the set serves to bring a diorama or a display case to life and to complement vehicles of the matching period. The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. The number of figures, the number of parts and the scope of the extra equipment are stated on the packaging.
The Belgian army entered the First World War in August 1914 and, after withdrawing behind the river Yser, held a narrow strip of territory in the northwest of the country until the end of the war. During the conflict its equipment and armament went through a rapid change: the original dark uniforms and helmets of an older cut gave way to field equipment in a khaki shade and a steel helmet. It is this later period that most available figure sets draw on, because it matches the trench character of the fighting on the Western Front.
First clean the parting lines off the figures carefully — they show up particularly well on uniforms and faces. Spray the assembled figures with a thin primer, and only then paint. A proven procedure is a base tone, a dark wash into the folds and a dry brush or a lighter shade on the raised areas. Do the faces and hands in several thin coats, never in one heavy one. Paint the figures separately from the base and place them only when finished; complete small equipment such as a belt or a satchel separately, so that the brush reaches everywhere.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
