An injection-molded plastic model of the historic vehicle Benz Patent-Motorwagen 1886 in 1:24 scale from the Ukrainian brand ICM. This is the simplified version (Easy), in which the manufacturer has replaced the original fine photo-etched wheel spokes with plastic ones, so the build is easier while the parts stay clean and sharp. The kit faithfully captures the engine, the suspension and the characteristic three-wheel layout of the vehicle.
The Benz Patent-Motorwagen was the first automobile in the world powered by an internal combustion engine. It was built by Carl Benz, who was granted patent number 37435 for it on 2 November 1886. The three-wheeled vehicle with a single-cylinder four-stroke engine mounted at the rear, chain drive and an open frame marked the birth of modern motor transport. This very machine is usually regarded as the beginning of the history of the automobile.
Glue the plastic parts with thin modeling cement for plastic; separate the fine parts, above all the wheels and the frame, from the sprue gates carefully. Apply a primer before painting, then spray thin coats with an airbrush. A polished metal look on the brass and lacquered areas and a discreet emphasis of the details with a wash will suit the period appearance. Thanks to the simplified wheels the model is suitable for less experienced builders as well.
